How does exploration work in Winds of Viridia?

The official site and Steam page describe momentum-forward traversal through a cel-shaded Grantree valley:

  • Roll, slide, and flip to stay mobile in combat and platforming
  • Grapple chains to carry speed across gaps
  • Special plants that help you jump or launch into hidden caves

Exact map names, fast-travel rules, and climbing stamina are not announced yet.

How does combat work?

Combat is real-time. Steam and the official site highlight:

  • Studying enemy patterns and finding openings
  • Parry-style defensive play
  • Answering devastating special attacks from dozens of frenzy-touched creatures

Lock-on, full moveset list, and difficulty options are not announced yet. Reports that lock-on is missing remain early player reports, unconfirmed.

Mothbug, totems, and Sanctuary loops

Three systems interlock between runs:

  1. Mothbug companion — dodges, counters, and combo chains; the Chakram Relic enables spin-throw attacks per official copy
  2. Totems explained — relics equipped at camp for passive bonuses and build mixing
  3. Sanctuary hub — rest, communal meals that grant buffs, forge upgrades, and prep before leaving
